The BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 has set a new benchmark for Counter-Strike tournaments held on American soil, reaching a peak of 1.4 million concurrent viewers during its first playoff match.
The record was broken during the elimination clash between Team Spirit and MOUZ, marking the highest viewership ever recorded for a Counter-Strike event in the United States, according to data from Esports Charts.
According to the website’s metrics, viewership reached its peak during the first map of the Spirit–MOUZ series, before gradually declining as the match extended late into the night for European audiences, who formed the majority of the viewership. The series ran past midnight Central European Time (CET), contributing to the drop in numbers.
The second playoff match, a Brazilian clash between FURIA and paiN Gaming, saw further decline in viewership, peaking at under 700,000 concurrent viewers.
Although FURIA also attracted some interest from CIS supporters, due to the presence of Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis and Danil “molodoy” Golubenko on the roster, the matchup primarily appealed to fans in Brazil. The night also featured the match between Brazilian football team Botafogo and current UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which drew significant attention from fans of competitive events in general. The YouTube channel CazéTV, which casted the match along other traditional channels such as broadcast TV, peaked at over 4 million concurrent viewers.
The BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 playoffs continue, with Natus Vincere set to face Team Vitality, followed by local favourites FaZe Clan taking on The MongolZ.
