BLAST.tv is setting a new landmark for esports broadcasting at the Austin Major 2025 by becoming the first tournament organiser to enable YouTube’s multiview feature for an esports event.
Multiview, YouTube’s split-screen technology previously seen in coverage of the NFL and Coachella, allows viewers to watch multiple live feeds simultaneously. The feature is available to fans watching on TV and console devices, offering an enhanced viewing experience across all stages of the tournament.
“The BLAST.tv Austin Major is set to be one of our biggest events of the year, and it just got even more exciting with YouTube multiview,” said Faye Malborough, Growth Director at BLAST. “We’re thrilled to break new ground in esports broadcasting, using technology that’s already elevating the experience for fans of traditional sports and live music.”
The move marks another milestone for BLAST in its ongoing efforts to innovate within the esports broadcasting space. It has been a frequent presence lately in esports business headlines, especially for deals related to the Austin Major but also for innovative partnerships regarding its content. The official communications also remembers that, at the 2023 Paris Major, the organiser partnered with TikTok to stream the tournament live, a collaboration that contributed to a record 1.5 million peak viewers for a BLAST event.
This is BLAST’s second Counter-Strike Major, featuring 32 of the world’s top teams competing over three weeks for a $1.25 million prize pool. The tournament will culminate in a four-day finale at the Moody Center in Downtown Austin.
Austin will also host the inaugural Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW), organised by The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), in collaboration with The Esports Radar and BLAST itself, set to take place during the Major from 18 to 22 June 2025.
