A new esports and competitive gaming initiative will debut at gamescom 2025, as Freaks 4U Gaming introduces the Pro Arena in collaboration with the organisers of the event. The space aims to become a central hub for esports tournaments, community engagement, and interactive entertainment at the world’s largest gaming convention. German esports powerhouse SK Gaming steps in as the arena’s first major partner.

Spanning over 2,500 square metres, the Pro Arena will host a variety of activations from publishers, brands, and esports teams. It will feature a large main stage for matches and live shows, along with custom-built demo stations, networking areas, and business lounges.

Freaks 4U Gaming CEO Michael Haenisch stated that the initiative reflects the evolving nature of the esports industry: “The esports and gaming industry is full of potential, yet constantly evolving. That’s why we’re always developing new formats for our partners and clients.” He added that the Pro Arena “sets a new benchmark for premium community events.”

Tim Endres, Director of gamescom, described Freaks 4U Gaming as a “strong and experienced partner” and emphasised the event’s continued focus on enhancing the esports offering for attendees both nationally and internationally.

SK Gaming is one of Germany’s best-known esports organisations and also holds headquarters in Cologne, where the event takes place. The team will operate a 700-square-metre entertainment area within the venue, hosting the finals of the Equal eSports Cup in League of Legends and awarding the Magenta eTrophy in Fortnite.

“We’ve been a proud part of gamescom for many years,” said SK Gaming CEO Alexander T. Müller. “Now, with the Pro Arena, we finally have a space where our teams, creators, and partners can truly shine.”

The gamescom 2025 is set to be held on 20-24 August. Cologne hosts the convention since 2009 and will continue to do so, as a new contract expanding the cooperation between local exhibition center Koelnmesse and the event was signed in April this year.
