Grant Rousseau, the Global Director of Esports and Operations at Team Falcons, revealed through his social media channels that he will step down from his role following the upcoming Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. At the statement, Rousseau described it as “one of the hardest decisions of my life.”

No further details have been provided regarding Rousseau’s next steps after leaving the organisation, although the executive “decided it’s time for a new adventure.” The statement prompted a wave of supportive comments, with fans, colleagues and industry figures commending Rousseau for his work at Team Falcons.

Rousseau joined Team Falcons three years ago, following an approach from Team Falcons’ founder, Musaad Al-Dossary. At the time, Al-Dossary shared his ambition to elevate the organisation onto the global stage. Under Rousseau’s leadership, Team Falcons expanded significantly, now spanning five continents with over 200 players and more than 25 teams. The organisation secured major competitive successes, including a victory at EWC 2024, and the Esports Organisation of the Year award at Esports Awards.

In his statement, Rousseau expressed his gratitude to Al-Dossary for the opportunity, highlighting the trust placed in him at a time when his own esports future was uncertain. He described his tenure at Team Falcons as “the biggest honour of my career.”

Rousseau also acknowledged the contributions of Team Falcons’ staff, players, coaches, and fans. He praised the dedication of the global team and staff members and gave particular thanks to the Dota 2 roster for winning the ESL Birmingham Major in front of his family — a moment he described as unforgettable. Rousseau further noted the support from the Falcons fanbase, emphasising the encouragement he received even during challenging periods.

Looking ahead, Rousseau confirmed that EWC 2025, ending 24 August, will mark his final event with Team Falcons, and the organisation’s focus remains on securing another title at the tournament. He concluded by expressing confidence in the organisation’s continued success beyond his departure.
