In less than 24 hours, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has opened and closed applications to a hiring process for a Head of Esports Projects.
The role, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is listed under the IOC’s Digital Engagement & Marketing department and offered as a full-time, open-ended contract. The job announcement, created on 5 June 2025, is not accepting new applications as of 6 June 2025.

According to it, the Head of Esports Projects will be responsible for leading the development of core esports titles and managing relationships with game publishers. The role is designed to support broader initiatives such as the Olympic Esports Games and the IOC’s strategic framework.
Key responsibilities include coordinating publisher integration, overseeing competition programming, and managing entry requirements for esports titles in the Olympic Esports Games. The position will also serve as a central point of contact between the IOC and the wider esports industry, particularly game publishers, and aims to align core esports development with the Olympic Movement’s long-term goals.
Applicants were expected to have over five years of experience within core esports ecosystems, preferably with game publishers, and a university degree in business, marketing, media, or a related field. Fluency in English and/or French was also required, alongside strong project management and presentation skills.
