Cloud9 has officially parted ways with Super Smash Bros. Melee legend Joseph “mang0” Marquez following an internal investigation into a recent incident involving the player.

The organization confirmed the decision on Monday, June 23, citing behavior that “directly conflicts” with Cloud9’s core values. While specific details of the incident and investigation were not shared, the statement made clear that the team maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment or inappropriate conduct – with Mang0 coming under fire for alleged sexual harassment during a Twitch stream.

“We are aware of the recent incident involving Joseph “mang0” Marquez and fully acknowledge the concerns raised by our community and partners,” the statement said. “Following an internal evaluation, we have made the decision to release mang0 from Cloud9.

“Regardless of tenure or accomplishments, the behavior demonstrated is entirely unacceptable and directly conflicts with our organization’s core values. We maintain a zero-tolerance stance regarding harassment or any other form of inappropriate conduct.

“Our primary focus remains fostering a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone associated with Cloud9. We will continue to collaborate closely with our talent, partners, and community to uphold and reinforce these standards. We wish mang0 the best in his future endeavors.”

This came barely a day after a stream clip went viral, with Mang0 accused of sexually harassing women at an event where a number of streamers were.

This included ExtraEmily and Maya, who he told to “end the stream” after appearing to re-enact a sexual act next to Maya’s head.

Warning: Some viewers may find this clip uncomfortable.

After he was officially removed from Cloud9, Mang0 took to social media to explain and apologize.

“F**king sh*t man … Never though I could hit this low,” he said. “Probably won’t hear from me for a while. I’m sorry everyone. Wish I was better. I had it all and fucking tossed it in the trashcan.”

Mang0, a decorated competitor and one of the most iconic figures in Melee history, had been with Cloud9 since 2014. His 11-year tenure with the organization saw him secure multiple tournament wins and cement his legacy as one of the “Five Gods” of Melee.
