Canadian esports holding company OverActive Media has announced it has entered the Free Fire League (FFL).

Through esports organisation Movistar KOI, the expansion into the free-to-play shooter title marks the expansion of the company into the Latin American market.

Movistar KOI will compete in the FFL, the official esports circuit of Free Fire in Latin America. In addition, the entrance into the esport will be supported by its existing partnership with a telecommunications company Telefónica Mexico through its association with the Movistar brand.

Alongside fielding a roster in the FFL, OverActive Media will work with Movistar on a number of activations with the aim to engage fans and to create new commercial opportunities within the LATAM region.

Free Fire is one of the biggest shooter titles in the world. While it continues to grow its presence in other Western markets, the game has large fan bases across Asia and Latin America. Alongside leagues operated by Free Fire developer and publisher, Garena, Free Fire is one of several games that form the line up for the 2025 Esports World Cup, a multi-title event organised by the Esports World Cup Foundation.

The expansion into Free Fire takes the number of esports rosters operated by OverActive Media up to four. The Movistar KOI brand also competes in the LEC and the VALORANT Champions Tour. Outside of the Movistar KOI brand, OverActive Media operates the Toronto Ultra Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise.

“This is a significant moment for OverActive Media as we expand into Mexico and deepen our partnership with Telefónica’” revealed Adam Adamou, CEO of OverActive Media. “Free Fire is a cornerstone of mobile esports in Latin America, and entering the Free Fire League allows us to connect with millions of dedicated fans in one of the world’s most passionate gaming markets.”
