News publication Sheep Esports has announced a partnership with Theta Labs to introduce Shepherd, an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance access to esports data and insights. The tool will be integrated into the Sheep Esports website and Discord server, offering real-time match data, player statistics, team histories and tournament information for titles including League of Legends, VALORANT and other competitive games.

The assistant is designed to support a range of queries, from basic scheduling information to more detailed analysis on topics such as meta shifts and team win rates. The initiative also plans to introduce personalised content, including AI-generated newsletters based on users’ preferred teams, games or leagues. It will draw on data from Sheep Esports’ archives and official sources such as Riot Games APIs.

“Sheep Esports was founded with the goal of exploring new ways to inform esports fans. With Theta Network, we’re developing a tool that delivers instant information about any esports team, player or tournament. We’re excited to make the connection between fans and media more interactive,” said Ronan Bras, Managing Director of Sheep Esports.

According to Mitch Liu, CEO of Theta Labs: “Good esports news shouldn’t just tell you what happened – it should help you understand why it matters. When a fan wants to know if a team’s draft strategy actually works, or how a player’s performance compares historically, they shouldn’t have to dig through spreadsheets. Sheep Esports and Theta are building something that puts those insights right at readers’ fingertips.”

Kyle Laffey, Head of Partnerships at Theta Labs, added on a LinkedIn post: “Sheep Esports is absolutely blowing up in the League of Legends and esports communities as the go-to source for breaking news. We teamed up with Ronan Bras to launch Shepherd, an AI agent for real-time esports insights powered by Theta Network.”

Sheep Esports made it to business headlines recently for securing a partnership with betting platform WINAMAX, a deal which allowed the outlet to further invest in its content and structure. Theta Labs has been a presence in the partnerships section after closing deals for AI features with organisations like Gen.G and Cloud9.

Shepherd is expected to enter public beta in Q3 2025, with features gradually made available to Sheep Esports members and Discord followers.
