North American esports organisation Team Envy has announced it has merged with fellow North American organisation Native Gaming.
The merger was announced on March 11th, 2025 across the social media channels of both parties.
Financial details of the merger between Team Envy and Native Gaming were not disclosed. The merger continues Team Envy’s expansion into various esports titles following its return earlier in the year. In January, Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail announced he had reacquired Team Envy, Dallas Fuel, and Dallas Empire brands from OpTic Gaming, alongside severing all ties with the organisation.
Details on the organisation’s structure were not shared, but it is believed that existing esports rosters and staff members will keep their positions. Since returning to esports, Team Envy has expanded into several esports titles, including Marvel Rivals, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Apex Legends.
Most recently, the organisation expanded into VALORANT, with the team competing in the North American VCT Challengers league.
“We are excited to announce the merger of Envy and Native Gaming,” wrote the organisation. “This partnership marks the beginning of a new era in Envy’s history, Dean and Mike will unite the boundaries of what’s possible.
“Together, we will elevate esports by blending Envy’s championship legacy with Native Gaming’s commitment to growth and the indigenous community. By joining forces, we plan on opening new doors for players, fans and the gaming community worldwide.”
Founded in 2007, Team Envy is one of the oldest esports organisations in the world. It has achieved success across several titles, including Counter-Strike, Overwatch, and Call of Duty, where it won the 2016 World Championship and the inaugural Call of Duty League (CDL) season under its Dallas Empire banner.
The first months of Team Envy’s return to esports has cemented the organisation as one of the largest in North America once more. With the help of Native Gaming, it will be interesting to see where it goes next.
