European esports organisation Team Vitality has announced the acquisition of Indonesian powerhouse Bigetron Esports, marking the first acquisition in the French team’s history. This move represents a milestone in Team Vitality’s global expansion strategy and a push into the mobile esports sector.

Bigetron, a leading name in Southeast Asia’s competitive gaming scene, will now compete under the co-branded identity “Bigetron by Vitality” in regional tournaments, while using the “Team Vitality” tag in international competitions such as the Esports World Cup. According to the official release, this branding structure is intended to honor Bigetron’s local heritage while integrating it into the broader Team Vitality brand. The rebranding is already underway on social media platforms, supported by a group of local ambassadors with a combined audience of over 27 million followers.

Through this acquisition, Team Vitality gains a stronger presence in the Indonesian market, one of the main mobile esports pillars in the world. The deal adds rosters to Vitality in titles such as PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Honor of Kings.

“As the popularity of mobile gaming continues to soar, particularly with younger generations growing up on mobile games, Team Vitality is proud to support shaping the long-term future of mobile gaming esports together with the Bigetron leadership team. This acquisition marks an important step in our internationalisation as well as becoming the best gaming organization in the world,” stated Nicolas Maurer, CEO of Team Vitality.

Team Vitality now operates with over 170 staff members across offices in Paris, Berlin, and Jakarta, following the addition of more than 50 new personnel. The organization’s competitive portfolio has also expanded, now comprising 19 teams competing across 15 esports titles. Its owned digital following has grown to more than 10 million, an increase of 6.8 million as a result of the acquisition.

The leadership team for this new phase will include Edwin Chia, CEO of Bigetron Esports, alongside Maurer, Executive Chairman Fabien Devide, and Global Operations Director Danny Engels. Together, they will oversee the development of Vitality’s mobile esports operations, with a shared goal of advancing performance, nurturing talent, and fostering communities around competitive gaming.
