Riot Games has named Danish player Rasmus Caps Winther, currently mid laner for G2 Esports, as the third player to join the LoL Esports Hall of Legends, making him the first Western League of Legends (LoL) pro to receive the honour.

Caps joins two previous inductees: Lee Faker Sang-hyeok (South Korea), inducted in 2024, and Jian Uzi Zi-Hao (China), inducted in 2025. He will be presented with an official Hall of Legends trophy at a ceremony in Berlin, Germany, on August 18.

Separately, an in-game event dedicated to Caps will run starting September 10. It will include an event pass that walks players through milestones of his career, along with cosmetic items tied to his time as a pro. Riot says further details about the in-game event will be released later.

As with previous Hall of Legends inductions, 30% of the gross revenue from the Hall of Legends event pass and related bundles and collections will go to Caps and the teams he has played for.

Esports Leaders Paris is on 21st August at the 5-star Hôtel du Collectionneur bringing together senior decision-makers in and around esports and gaming during the closing EWC weekend. Get your pass here.

Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports, said, “Caps always felt like the player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare ‘it’ factor, the ability to rise in the biggest moments through his playmaking, leadership, and calming presence under pressure. Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players and earned the respect of fans around the world. He’s not just one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time, he exemplifies everything we hope our esports heroes can be.”

The Hall of Legends induction happens once a year and is meant to recognise a player’s achievements in the game and the sport. Riot staff in each region first nominate a shortlist of around 20 players who have competed in Tier 1 competition for at least five cumulative years.

From there, an independent panel of 50 esports industry veterans, drawn from every region, votes on the nominees. The panel bases its votes on factors including international tournament appearances, international and regional titles won, role-specific statistics, and a player’s overall contributions to the sport.
