Danish payments company Flatpay has become a partner of the esports organisation Astralis, joining as the first member of a new sponsorship programme called “The Collective“.
Flatpay’s CEO and founder, Sander Janca-Jensen, was also one of the early investors in Fusion Esports Group when it acquired Astralis in September 2025. The new partnership deal was announced by Jonas Gundersen, founder of Fusion Esports Group, Astralis’ parent company, and covers the upcoming World Championship in Singapore through 2027.
According to Gundersen, “The Collective” is a new kind of sponsorship structure built around networking rather than the kind of advertising placements that are common in traditional esports sponsorships. It does not involve a physical venue, and Astralis’ participation at any given event is not guaranteed as part of the deal.
Instead, the programme centres on bringing together a group of partner companies and individuals connected to Fusion Esports Group, which Gundersen described as including investors, entrepreneurs, and people from fields like technology, music, and sports. Partners who join “The Collective” get access to four invitation-only events over the course of the partnership, intended to connect the group with Fusion’s wider network of contacts.
The events planned for 2027 include a trip to Madrid featuring a discussion with footballer Thibaut Courtois, who recently acquired a stake in Fusion Esports Group, and a stadium visit; a private concert and networking event in Copenhagen; a visit to a production studio in Malta; and access to a private viewing area at IEM Cologne, a Tier-S Counter-Strike tournament.
In addition to the events, partners in “The Collective” receive a logo placement on Astralis’ jersey, which Gundersen said is seen across more than 200 million hours of viewed content per year, and the right to use Astralis’ branding in their own marketing materials.
Gundersen said only 10 spots are available in “The Collective”, and that the opportunity to join would close once filled, ahead of the Counter-Strike Major in Singapore this December, with the next opportunity to join not coming until 2028. Pricing for participation was not disclosed, though Gundersen described it as accessible to a range of companies.
