Chinese esports organization Invictus Gaming has partnered with World Sports Group (WSG) to launch a new esports team called WSIG Esports, also known as the World Sports Invictus Gaming Esports.
World Sports Group was founded in Los Angeles in 2018 and operates in several areas of the sports industry. The company invests in sports such as table tennis, cycling, basketball, and esports and also works in areas like venue management, content production, and athlete management.
As per the official release, the primary goal of this joint investment is to combine the resources of a global sports group with one of China’s most well-known esports teams. World Sports Group also explained that they plan to bring traditional sports systems into esports, including sports science, physical rehabilitation, psychological support, and professional training environments via the introduction of WSIG Esports.
WSIG already has an established Valorant team, which competed in China’s 2025 National Tournament. The roster was reorganised earlier in 2026 with several new players joining the lineup. Now, with the official establishment of WSIG, this team will step into the professional arena with a brand-new look.
The announcement also unveils EJ Sports, Oxygen Sports, and Huya Live as major investors and partners supporting the project, rather than the main founders of the new club. EJ Sports plays a key role in the business side of the project. According to the announcement, it will mainly support brand building, content creation, and commercial development for the new WSIG esports club.
Oxygen Sports is mentioned as an affiliate partner. On the other hand, Huya, one of China’s largest esports live streaming platforms, is also a major investor involved in the project. Huya broadcasts many major esports events and reaches hundreds of millions of viewers. In the WSIG project, Huya will help with content distribution, streaming exposure, and audience reach to help the team grow its fan base.
Finally, both the entities confirmed that WSIG plans to expand into more esports titles in the future and explore connections between traditional sports and esports.
