The 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) has officially become the most-watched edition in League of Legends history, following a dramatic five-game final between South Korean rivals Gen.G and T1.
Held over several weeks, MSI brings together the top teams from major regional leagues each year. This year’s grand final saw the two LCK representatives go head-to-head once again, continuing one of the most competitive and closely followed rivalries in the game.
Interest in the final increased steadily throughout the best-of-five series. Gen.G and T1 each took turns dominating individual games, with no team able to pull ahead for long. The global audience grew significantly after each map, as fans tuned in for what became one of the most tightly contested international series in recent memory.
By the time the series reached Game 5, viewership had climbed to a new peak. According to data from Esports Charts, the final reached 3,448,373 peak concurrent viewers during the final match, smashing the previous MSI record of 2,829,728 set during the 2024 tournament.
In total, #MSI2025 generated over 73M Hours Watched, with @T1LoL vs @GenG setting a new series peak viewership RECORD 📈

The fifth and deciding game saw Gen.G secure the win and the title, closing the series 3-2. T1 had taken the early lead with a win in Game 1, before Gen.G answered in Game 2. From there, the series went back and forth, with neither team able to maintain momentum for long.
MSI, typically held midway through the competitive season, has grown steadily since its introduction in 2015. While the World Championship remains the flagship event, MSI has established itself as a key moment on the calendar, and is quite clearly one that fans all look forward to watching.
Both Gen.G and T1 are expected to be strong contenders at the 2025 World Championship later this year in China, where another high-stakes rematch could be on the cards.
