PGL Esports has signed a multi-year agreement with the City of Cluj-Napoca to continue hosting its flagship Counter-Strike events at the BT Arena through 2029, establishing the Romanian city’s place on the global esports calendar.

The Bucharest-based tournament organiser reached the agreement with Emil Boc, the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, extending the partnership for 2027, 2028, and 2029. The announcement was made via an Instagram reel posted by the mayor, who highlighted the city’s ongoing commitment to top-tier esports.

Emil Boc, the mayor of Cluj-Napoca, said (translated into English), “Good news for esports fans in Cluj-Napoca and beyond. We have extended our partnership with PGL for 2027, 2028, and 2029 so that we can continue to organize world-class Esports competitions at the BT Arena polyvalent hall in Cluj-Napoca in the coming years, just as we have done this year. Thank you, and we are moving forward.”

Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW) will return in 2026 with a bigger and bolder edition, taking place across 18–21 June in Cologne, Germany, alongside IEM Cologne. The schedule and details about ticket sales are available in this link.

The 2026 edition of PGL Cluj-Napoca was held offline from February 14 to 22 at BT Arena, featuring a total prize pool of $1,250,000 USD, evenly split between $625,000 allocated to players and $625,000 to participating clubs.

Team Vitality won the 2026 tournament after defeating PARIVISION 3-0 in the Grand Finals and took home $225,000 in prize money.

To run this event, PGL also signed a partnership deal with data infrastructure provider Runestone, tasking the company with delivering real-time match data distribution and competitive integrity monitoring throughout the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026. After this tournament, PGL is set to host the Bucharest 2026 CS2 tournament from April 2 to 11, which saw date adjustments due to scheduling conflicts.
