Philips Monitors has officially signed a donation agreement with HUFS C&T and held the inauguration ceremony for the Philips Evnia Esports Lab. HUFS C&T (Division of Culture & Technology) is an academic department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in South Korea.
The two entities have teamed up to give students in esports-related majors a practical platform by combining hardware facilities with educational resources, helping support the training of esports talent and the growth of the industry.
In simple terms, Philips is providing equipment and support so students can learn esports in a more practical way instead of only studying theory in a classroom. Under the donation agreement, Philips Evnia provided the university with a number of professional esports monitors. Philips specifically pointed out that monitors include CPL eye-care technology, designed to reduce eye fatigue during long periods of use and protect students’ visual health.
Mr. Yan Lidong, General Manager of MMD Asia Pacific & Greater China, signed the agreement on behalf of Philips Evnia and said, “This donation represents a significant step for Philips Evnia in supporting global esports education. We hope that through our advanced display technology and equipment, we can create a superior learning and practice environment for students, contributing to the vigorous development of the esports industry.”
The signing ceremony was presided over by HUFS Vice President Dr. Jungchan Park. Dr. Ryu Yun-ji, Director of the Esports Program, signed the donation agreement on behalf of the university. Philips Evnia said it plans to continue working with academic institutions in the future, supporting esports education with technology and resources while helping train more skilled professionals for the industry.
Philips isn’t the first organisation working on esports education in South Korea. Back in October 2025, esports organisation Gen.G announced a partnership with thirteen universities across the U.S. to give students the chance to join a three-week study program in Seoul. T1 Entertainment & Sports has also been active in this space, launching the T1 Esports Academy a few years ago to educate students about opportunities in the esports industry and help build a pipeline for future talent.
