PlayVS, a competitive gaming platform for schools and colleges in North America, has announced that it is acquiring LeagueSpot, a global esports league and tournament management platform.
As per the official announcement, the deal will help PlayVS improve its technology and expand beyond North America. The acquisition details also confirm that Andrew Barnett, CEO of LeagueSpot, will join PlayVS to lead global strategy and support its international growth.
However, the companies did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition. In addition, details such as the exact timeline for integration, any changes to existing LeagueSpot partnerships, and whether the brand will continue to operate independently have not been announced. Both companies have also not shared information on potential staffing changes or future product rollouts following the acquisition.
The core objective of PlayVS’ latest acquisition is to integrate LeagueSpot’s technology and people to make its platform stronger and ready to grow, especially in schools, colleges, and new esports markets. LeagueSpot already has experience working with PlayVS through the PlayVS College League, where it helped organise and run big college esports tournaments in the U.S. and other countries.
For example, imagine PlayVS wants to host a nationwide college gaming tournament with thousands of students. LeagueSpot’s system can handle things like scheduling matches, tracking scores, and managing teams efficiently. By fully integrating LeagueSpot into PlayVS, everything becomes smoother and more scalable, so PlayVS can run even bigger tournaments and expand into more regions and age groups in the future.
Jon Chapman, CEO of PlayVS, said, “LeagueSpot significantly strengthens our foundation as we build the most comprehensive competitive gaming platform in the world. Their technology and international operating experience enable us to scale globally with greater consistency and operational rigor. Together, we are building a platform designed to support partners, publishers, and players across regions and power the next phase of growth in competitive gaming.”
Andrew Barnett, CEO of LeagueSpot, said, “This is a defining moment for the global expansion of competitive gaming. Our collaboration with the PCL demonstrated the unmatched scale, professionalism, and long-term vision of PlayVS. By bringing our technology and global experience together with their network, we’re building a platform that expands access to structured, inclusive competition and unlocks new opportunities for players, schools, and partners worldwide.”
Besides acquiring LeagueSpot, PlayVS also bought Vanta Esports in January 2026, bringing together two student esports communities to give more students access to coaching and competitions.
