StarLadder’s upcoming Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament, StarSeries Fall 2026, also known as StarSeries 20, is reportedly set to take place in Vaasa, a city in Finland.
According to a report published by Finland-based news media outlet Ilta-Sanomat, the event will be held as a LAN tournament from September 17 to 20, with a media day expected on September 16.
The entire event is planned to take place inside Vaasa Sähkö Areena, a multipurpose indoor venue that usually hosts ice hockey games and can hold between 4,400 and 5,200 people depending on the setup. The arena was recently renovated and previously hosted the Elisa Nordic Championship in 2025, although that event was smaller in scale.
However, the report noted that the matches may not all be played in front of a live audience. As usual in the CS2 ecosystem, some parts of the tournament could use a studio-style setup, and details about ticket sales or public attendance have not yet been confirmed.
The choice of Vaasa is linked to local cooperation. The report suggests that Finnish company Vilpen known for ventilation and roofing products, has been involved in bringing the event to the city. Its CEO, Tuomas Saikkonen, said the goal is to host what could be the biggest esports tournament ever held in the city. He also mentioned the possibility of Finnish players like Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo and Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen playing at the event on home soil.
The event has been scheduled in a way that avoids clashes with other major Counter-Strike tournaments. Qualifiers will take place in July and August 2026, with the main event in September, ahead of other large competitions in October.
So far, StarLadder has not officially announced Vaasa as the host city. The official announcement only specifies the “Schengen zone” (to simplify visas/travel for international teams). However, they’ve also specifically mentioned that teams are responsible for securing travel documents and visas. If a team cannot obtain required travel documents or visas within the set deadline, their invite will be revoked.
