On Thursday, November 20, 2025, PENN Entertainment carried out large layoffs at theScore Esports. While the company has not confirmed the exact number of people laid off, social media posts from affected staff suggest that dozens of employees lost their jobs.
People from nearly every part of the operation were affected, including writers, producers, video editors, hosts, casters, camera operators, content managers, and script managers. Some of the publicly confirmed layoffs include:
- Sean Wetselaar, manager of esports content and scripts
- Niall McCrossan, writer and producer for Valorant and League of Legends
- Danielle Rosen, senior features lead, writer, producer, and host
- Producer Colten, video editor and live producer
- Seb, host and caster since 2018
- Bryan, camera operator
- Jason Lo, content creator and writer
- Andrew, video editor
- Sam, associate content creator, video editor, and assistant producer
PENN Entertainment and theScore have not given an official reason for the layoffs. However, one employee said the cuts came directly from PENN.

This isn’t the first time PENN has laid off theScore staff. In June 2025, PENN announced major job cuts at theScore’s Toronto office, affecting more than 75 people (some reports say up to 100). This was about half of the editorial newsroom and parts of the sales and content teams.
At that time, PENN said the layoffs were part of an ongoing effort to change and improve its digital business, with more focus on product, technology, and online strategy to support growth in sports betting and iGaming.
Now, with most of theScore Esports team gone and no comment from management, the future of theScore Esports is unclear.
