The Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA) has appointed Gary Tibbett, an esports education and partnerships specialist with over a decade of industry experience, to a new role: Director of Games, Esports & Industry Partnerships.
Tibbett announced the move on LinkedIn, moving up from his previous position as the organisation’s Director of Esports, a role he had held for just over a year.
CEA is an educational organisation that develops curriculum for 3D animation, visual effects (VFX), and game development. Rather than running its own standalone school, it partners with public colleges and universities to build career-focused training and technical programmes in these fields.
In his announcement, Tibbett said the past year at CEA had been the most rewarding stretch of his career so far, pointing to new programmes built from scratch and partnerships formed with universities, esports federations, and government bodies across the Middle East, North America, and East Asia. He described his new title as combining three areas he’s long worked across: games, esports, and industry partnerships.
Before joining CEA, he spent close to six years at British Esports, working his way up through several roles: starting as Projects Officer in December 2019, moving to Education Manager in mid-2020, and then becoming Head of Partnerships in August 2023. He also spent time as an advisor and board member at LUCENT between 2021 and 2023.
Tibbett joined CEA in December 2024 as a member of its Industry Advisory Board before being appointed Director of Esports in June 2025. He held that role for just over a year before this latest promotion.
Alongside his work at CEA, Tibbett also holds ongoing advisory positions as an Esports Expert with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the British Standards Institution, both roles he took on in December 2025.
