EA Sports has announced a revamped format for the Madden NFL 27 Championship Series (MCS) for the 2027 season.
The primary change under the new Madden NFL structure is the introduction of a “two-track” qualification system: a new eight-player Pro League for top competitors, running alongside a series of Open Qualifiers meant to give more players a path to the season’s championship event, the Madden Bowl. EA says the updated competition structure creates more opportunities to reach the Madden Bowl through open competition & introduces season-long storylines for players and fans
The Madden Championship Series is Electronic Arts’ official competitive esports circuit for the Madden NFL American football video game franchise. The 2027 season will be sponsored by major U.S. financial services company USAA. As part of the sponsorship agreement, Electronic Arts has confirmed that all in-game MCS competition matches will be played at USAA Stadium, featuring the brand’s title sponsorship throughout this year’s program.

The new season also sees EA and Full Sail University continuing their partnership around competitive Madden NFL gaming. This will be the third consecutive year the university’s Orlando campus hosts events for the Championship Series.
Under the latest agreement, the MCS 27 will be broadcast live from Full Sail University’s Orlando Health Fortress facility. The season will conclude with Madden Bowl 27, which will be held on Full Sail’s campus for the first time, at a venue called Full Sail Live, in February 2027.
As with previous seasons, students in Full Sail’s entertainment and media degree programs will help produce the live broadcasts, working in areas such as broadcast operations and content creation. EA and Full Sail also stated that 100 Full Sail graduates will be hired this season into production roles supporting the Championship Series.

EA finally mentioned that students from Full Sail’s Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting will join EA’s on-air broadcast talent at the main event desk for the full season for the first time. The company will also continue funding scholarships and learning opportunities for Full Sail students.
