US-based Grand View University has announced a four-year partnership with multi-regional esports organisation Team Liquid.

As part of the agreement, both Grand View University and Team Liquid will jointly develop new team apparel and jersey designs with a release planned for the 2027-28 academic year. The two organisations also plan to work together on event programming and other activities that connect college-level esports with the professional scene. Examples mentioned include a visit to one of Team Liquid’s facilities or a chance for students to shadow staff working in broadcast and production at a Team Liquid event.

The Grand View University specifically highlighted that a major early focus will be Grand View’s 2027 summer esports camps. The university plans to explore bringing in Team Liquid staff, expertise, and resources to help run these camps, giving participants a camp schedule shaped with input from a professional organisation. The stated goal is to support esports development for people who are serious about competing, as part of a effort to grow esports at the local level.

This isn’t Grand View University’s first move into esports. It was one of the earlier colleges to establish a varsity esports programme and has built a strong presence in national collegiate esports competitions. Its teams compete in multiple games, including League of Legends, Overwatch, VALORANT, Rocket League, and Marvel Rivals, and regularly participate in national collegiate tournaments.

Nathan Ragsdell, Director of Esports at Grand View University, said, “This partnership is perhaps the most exciting opportunity I have had during the tenure of my esports career and for us to then continue building on what we’ve established at Grand View by creating new experiences for our students and the local esports community is truly rewarding. Team Liquid is one of, if not, the most recognisable and respected organisations in esports, and having the opportunity to collaborate with them, gives our coaches and students a connection with and an opportunity to learn from professional esports industry leaders.”

Apart from Grand View University, Team Liquid has previously worked with Lawrence Tech Esports to help grow the collegiate esports scene.
