Epic Games has appointed Christopher Scroggins as its new Esports Coordinator. The move comes as the company solidifies multiple external partnerships for its key competitive titles, Fortnite and Rocket League.

Scroggins joins Epic Games from the Esports Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE), where he served as CEO and Co-Founder for over six years. In his new role, he will be focused on B2B strategy and supporting third-party relationships. At EDGE, day-to-day operations will now be led by Co-Founder and Managing Partner Zach Harrington.

“I’m looking forward to learning from an incredible team and gaining a broader perspective on esports and gaming at a global scale,” Scroggins stated in a LinkedIn announcement.

The appointment aligns with a series of significant third-party esports deals secured by Epic Games in recent months. Most notably, a three-year agreement was announced in December 2025 with the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF). This partnership will see both Fortnite and Rocket League feature at the annual Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting in 2026. Given a similar deal was signed with Ubisoft Nadeo for Trackmania, it is fair to expect these games also featured at the Esports Nations Cup (ENC).

Simultaneously, Epic has deepened its collaboration with production company BLAST for the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS), unveiling a 2026 structure with a $10m prize pool. A separate $1 million investment was also announced for a new Fortnite Mobile Series. For Rocket League, Epic and BLAST confirmed the first RLCS 2026 Major will be held in Boston, USA, this February.

Scroggins’ background in consultancy, working with “entrepreneurs, entities in education, and non-endemic companies looking to enter the esports landscape,” suggests Epic Games may be looking to broaden the ecosystem around its games through similar strategic integrations.
