The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has launched EWC_Extra, a new social media channel offering live match updates, community highlights, and behind-the-scenes content from the ongoing 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh. The channel is part of a broader content strategy aimed at making coverage more accessible to both hardcore fans and casual viewers.

Speaking to The Esports Radar about the decision to launch a new communications outlet, the EWCF explained that EWC_Extra was created in response to the diverse interests of the tournament’s audience. With 25 game titles featured in the event, not all viewers are interested in detailed, real-time updates for each competition. The new channel is designed to prevent the main account, EWC_EN, from becoming overloaded with niche, fan-specific content.

“The goal of our social media strategy for the Esports World Cup is to provide fans with relevant, engaging content and an enjoyable live coverage experience, which is both entertaining and informative,” a representative said, “Once their favorite game concludes, fans can transition to our main account, EWC_EN, for essential EWC information, including standings, winners, Club ratings, and curated content highlights, without being inundated with live coverage.”

The representative added that “the main channel, EWC_EN, also caters to a more casual audience, offering a concise overview of key Esports World Cup news, even for those not deeply involved in esports.”

Also according to the event, the new platform EWC_Extra, available on X and Instagram, aims to meet growing demand for fast-paced, game-focused content. Organisers report that early engagement figures have exceeded expectations: During the first week of the tournament, social media impressions rose by 167%, with video views increasing by 267%.
