German esports organisation GamerLegion has launched its first Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) FACEIT League in partnership with online betting platform LEON.Bet, taking their ongoing sponsorship collaboration into the grassroots esports scene.
Announced on May 19, the “GamerLegion x LEON FACEIT League” gives Counter-Strike 2 players a chance to compete for over $1,000 worth of prizes through FACEIT’s leaderboard and matchmaking system.
Unlike major CS2 tournaments with massive prize pools, this event is more community-focused. Instead of cash prizes in the millions, players can win CS2 skins and gaming gear like headsets, mice, and keyboards.
The league features an open leaderboard format rather than a fixed-season team registration, making it accessible for individual players or small groups. To participate, players must join the GamerLegion Club using their FACEIT account and then compete in CS2 matches on their dedicated leaderboard to climb the rankings.
The FACEIT League is the latest project in the partnership between GamerLegion and LEON.Bet. The collaboration first began in October 2025, when LEON became the official sportsbook partner for GamerLegion’s CS2 team. In March 2026, the deal was expanded to include the organisation’s Dota 2 roster as well.
Since then, both sides have focused on fan engagement through exclusive content, giveaways, community campaigns, and activities designed to connect esports fans with professional teams while also supporting grassroots esports growth.
Recently, more esports organisations and gaming companies have started putting extra focus on grassroots and community-driven esports initiatives. Just a few days ago, ASUS Republic of Gamers announced ROG Masters North America 2026, a new grassroots esports tournament for players across Canada and the United States.
Two months ago, Ubisoft officially launched the R6 Esports Competition Hub, a dedicated platform built to bring together the wider competitive Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem outside of top-tier tournaments.
Meanwhile, North American esports organisation FlyQuest launched Project Grassroots in March 2026 to support Tier 2 esports teams and smaller competitive programs that often struggle with limited funding and resources.
