The British Esports Federation has named Joel Lavery as its new Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Major Events.

Lavery brings more than 30 years of experience in sport, partnerships, and major events, including work with British Cycling, the West Midlands Growth Company, and the first Commonwealth Esports Championships. His portfolio also includes securing major esports events such as Dota 2 and the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS), with another global event scheduled for 2026.

A former British Heavyweight Taekwondo Champion, Lavery said in a LinkedIn post to be eager to work with the esports community on upcoming projects and invited contacts from sport and business to engage with British Esports or visit the National Performance Centre in Sunderland.

British Esports described the appointment as part of its plans to strengthen its domestic and global presence: “Exciting times ahead as we continue to grow British Esports at home and on the global stage.” Internationally, the Federation recently took part in discussions to formalise esports in Pakistan.
