American esports organisation M80 has acquired the Boston Breach franchise, the team which represented Boston, Massachusetts, in the Call of Duty League (CDL). The team will now compete in the CDL under the name M80 Boston.
The deal marks M80’s entry into Call of Duty esports and adds a sixth game to its roster of teams, which already includes Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League and 2XKO. M80 said this is the largest deal in the organisation’s history. The team will be based in the Greater Boston area and will be the only Call of Duty League franchise located in New England.
The acquisition comes as the Call of Duty League heads into a new season alongside the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026. M80 pointed to recent viewership growth in the league as part of its reasoning for joining.
While the financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, M80 announced several personnel changes alongside the deal.
Adam Morrison, a long-time figure in esports, is taking an ownership stake in M80 and joining as Chief Commercial Officer. Morrison co-founded Oxygen Esports, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and helped set up and run the Boston Breach before its sale to M80. At M80, he will oversee commercial strategy across the organisation, including partnerships, sponsorship sales, media rights and revenue growth.
Richard Nino is joining as a strategic investor and senior advisor. Nino spent much of his career in asset management, most recently as Executive Vice President of Global Distribution at Fiera Capital. His background is in raising capital and building investment partnerships with institutions such as sovereign wealth funds and family offices across North America, Europe and Asia. At M80, he will advise on funding, institutional relationships and long-term financial planning.
Kevin Conroy has been appointed to M80’s board of directors. Conroy previously served as President of Digital & New Platforms at MGM and has held senior roles at Univision and AOL, mostly in digital media and content strategy. At M80, he will help guide the organisation’s moves into media and entertainment, including original content and intellectual property development.
M80 said the new team’s staff and day-to-day operations will be based in the Boston area and that it plans to build a presence in the region through local events, watch parties, and outreach to college and amateur players. The organisation also said it intends to form partnerships with businesses and institutions in New England.
Apart from acquiring a CDL franchise, M80 also invested in an esports training camp in partnership with Florida-based sports training destination IMG Academy last year, offering courses across various esports titles.
