Mika Kuusisto has announced he is stepping down as CEO of Finnish esports organisation ENCE, ending a tenure of more than seven years.
Kuusisto shared the news in a series of posts on X on Monday evening. He said he was “incredibly thankful” for his time leading ENCE, describing both the highs the team celebrated together and the difficult periods the organisation had to work through.
In his posts, Kuusisto explained that ENCE has been going through a major financial turnaround involving extensive restructuring. In fact, a few months ago, the company also decided to refocus on its home market, Finland, as the current esports ecosystem has made it increasingly difficult for organisations like ENCE to sustain international projects.
He said this process is still ongoing and that he plans to stay closely involved “in the trenches” until it is completed and the company reaches a sustainable financial position.
As part of the changes, ENCE will not appoint a new CEO. Instead, the organisation is moving to a flatter management structure. Responsibility for different parts of the business will be split among several existing team members. According to Kuusisto, one person will take over content, brand and marketing, another will lead partnerships, and a third will be responsible for esports operations.

Kuusisto said he has “complete faith” that this team has what it takes to run the organisation together and get ENCE back on a growth track.
Despite stepping down from his executive role, Kuusisto will not be leaving ENCE entirely. He confirmed he will continue his work on the company’s Board of Directors and remain a dedicated shareholder.
Kuusisto joined ENCE as CEO in late 2018, a period during which the organisation grew into one of Finland’s leading esports brands, securing partnerships with major companies and achieving strong results across multiple esports titles.
No further details have been announced regarding the long-term leadership structure beyond the division of responsibilities outlined by Kuusisto.
