The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Singapore has disqualified Team Everlasting Luv (EVL) from Season 9 Playoffs following an internal investigation into suspected match-fixing during their Week 3 Day 2 fixture against Sovereign SG.
The match, held on May 25, 2025, raised immediate concerns due to what the league described as “suspicious gameplay” by EVL. The league subsequently launched a formal investigation, during which players Akashi, Kyushu, and WILLYYY were interviewed separately.
“The explanations provided by players Akashi, Kyushu, and WILLYYY were inconsistent with their in-game actions and team communications, and were further contradicted by backend data,” the league explained in a statement. “Following a comprehensive review, EVL and the aforementioned players were found to have failed to uphold the standards of competitive integrity expected of all participants in MPL Singapore.”
The MPL SG Committee concluded that Everlasting Luv had intentionally lost the match, breaching Rule 15.1.2 of the league’s Penalty Index. As a result, the team has been disqualified from the current season’s playoffs and will be barred from participating in the next two MPL SG seasons.
Additionally, players Akashi, Kyushu, and WILLYYY have each been handed two-season suspensions for their role in the incident and for providing misleading information during the inquiry.
“As the nation’s only professional esports league, MPL Singapore upholds the highest standards of competitive integrity,” the statement continued. “We take all breaches of fair play seriously and will enforce strict penalties to ensure a level playing field for all teams and players.”
The MPL Singapore Season 9 Playoffs take place from June 6-8. As a result of the suspensions their first round opponents, Kingdom Esports, have received a bye, and will take on Team Flash in the Upper Bracket Semi Finals.
