Energy drink giant Red Bull has announced that the 2026 edition of its invitation-only League of Legends event, Red Bull League of Its Own, will take place at the Olimpic Arena Badalona in Barcelona on 5 December 2026.
The single-day showmatch series will mark the first time the event has been hosted in Spain, bringing together South Korean powerhouse T1 and top-tier League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) organisations in front of more than 12,000 live spectators.

The event architecture centres on high-profile “East versus West” showmatches, featuring reigning world champions T1 and mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. Facing the Korean side is a select group of Western rosters, led by Europe’s G2 Esports. The matchup continues a competitive narrative following G2’s victory over T1 at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) earlier this year.
Joining G2 on the schedule are French organisation Karmine Corp, also following a victory over T1 at the Esports World Cup, and Spanish local club Movistar KOI. KOI will leverage home-crowd advantage in a venue showcase that also includes a regional derby against Karmine Corp.
Unlike standard franchised league structures, Red Bull League of Its Own condenses its competitive format into a single-day schedule of Best-of-One matches. The broadcast strategy heavily integrates creator-led content, featuring live on-site co-streams from major esports personalities, including Marc “Caedrel” Lamont, Ibai Llanos, and Kamel “Kameto” Kebir broadcasting directly from the arena floor.
The venue expansion to Barcelona follows previous editions in Berlin and Munich, underlining Red Bull’s strategy of utilising proprietary esports intellectual property to bridge top-tier esports rosters with regional creator communities. By hosting cross-regional international matches outside Riot Games‘ official calendar, the series provides commercial partners and participating clubs with concentrated audience engagement and live venue monetisation.
In addition to its participating teams and broadcast creators, the showmatch series will also count on key endemic brands. Gaming hardware manufacturer MSI, an established partner of Red Bull events, and monitor brand AGON by AOC are featured in the event as official partners.
