The Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Riot Games, an agreement aimed at reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s grassroots gaming and esports infrastructure.
The agreement was signed in August 2025 at the New Sport Global Conference in Riyadh.
According to a statement released by the Federation, the collaboration is designed to “empower young gamers, support local communities, and create new opportunities for players, creators, and fans across the Kingdom and beyond.” The announcement frames the agreement as a new milestone for the advancing Saudi esports ecosystem.

The partnership will see the two organisations focus on key areas including hosting grassroots tournaments and community events, developing educational programmes within schools and universities, and fostering what the SEF describes as “inclusive environments that inspire participation and growth.”
The Federation stated that by “combining expertise and resources,” the initiative is intended to further strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a “global hub for gaming and esports.” The agreement underscores a continued push to solidify the Kingdom’s economic diversification beyond oil and gas, as aimed through the government program Vision 2030.
