Riot Games has issued official guidance for community members looking to organise tournaments for its upcoming fighting game, 2XKO.
The document, available in this link, provides a framework for grassroots events and allows organisers to host competitions without prior approvals.
Tournaments can be held at any scale—from small local gatherings to major events at convention centres—and in any format, including singles, duos, or mixed brackets, either online or in person.
Organisers are permitted to charge entry fees and secure sponsorships, though certain industries are prohibited, including gambling, firearms, pornography, alcohol, tobacco, unregulated financial products, political campaigns, and non-reputable charities.
Promotion is allowed using Riot’s community asset kit, but organisers may not use Riot’s logo or suggest official involvement. Tournaments can be streamed on digital platforms, though traditional television broadcasts are not permitted. Riot also retains the right to use event content for promotional purposes worldwide on a royalty-free basis.
Riot expects organisers to act in good faith, with the company able to intervene or shut down events that violate guidelines. Corporations and governments must seek direct approval to host tournaments under this framework, though sponsorship of community events is encouraged.
Additional resources include an offline mode guide and system requirement specifications. Riot grants organisers a limited licence to run competitions while reserving the right to revoke permissions if rules are breached.
