Serbian esports organisation Aurora Gaming has announced a new partnership with UFC athlete Conor McGregor, representing a major crossover between esports and traditional sports.

McGregor is one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts and a former UFC Featherweight and UFC Lightweight Champion. Known for his success inside the Octagon and his global popularity, McGregor remains one of the sport’s most recognisable figures.

Aurora Gaming said the primary objective of this partnership is to bring together esports, professional combat sports, and global entertainment content. The organisation sees the collaboration as an opportunity to expand its reach beyond the gaming industry.

Neither Aurora Gaming nor McGregor has disclosed the financial terms of the agreement. The duration of the partnership and other details, including whether McGregor will participate in content creation, promotional campaigns, or other collaborative projects with the organisation, have also not been revealed.

The announcement comes ahead of McGregor’s scheduled return to the Octagon on July 11 at 6:00 PM PDT, when he is set to face Max Holloway in a rematch.

Adalet Mamedov, CEO of Aurora Gaming, said, “Conor McGregor is a legendary athlete who changed UFC forever. He became the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold titles in two weight classes at the same time. For Aurora Gaming, this partnership with Conor is a meeting of two competitive cultures that share the same values: a champion’s mindset and the drive to win.”

Founded in 2022, Aurora Gaming is a Serbian esports organisation that competes in titles including Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Apex Legends, and Warcraft III. Until now, the organisation’s partnerships have largely been focused on the esports and gaming industry.

Aurora’s long-term main sponsor is betting company 1xBet, which also has a separate partnership with McGregor. More recently, prediction market platform Polymarket became the title sponsor for several of Aurora’s key rosters. The partnership with McGregor appears to be Aurora Gaming’s first collaboration with a major traditional sports athlete.
