Stream Hatchet, a data analytics company owned by GameSquare Holdings, has been chosen once again to handle data and insights for the Esports World Cup (EWC).
GameSquare officially announced this deal on their X handle, confirming that The Esports Foundation and ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) have brought the company back for a second consecutive year. As part of the deal, Stream Hatchet’s job is to measure how people watch and engage with EWC’s livestream content. The company tracks viewership across major platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Kick, collecting data such as how many people are watching, how long they stay tuned in, and how engagement changes over time.
For this year’s Esports World Cup, Stream Hatchet will build tracking systems specifically for the event. This will include real-time dashboards that show audience numbers and performance data as competitions happen. The idea is to give organisers, sponsors, and teams a clearer picture of how the event is performing while it’s still going on, rather than waiting until after it’s over to analyse the numbers.
Eduard Montserrat, CEO of Stream Hatchet, said, “We are proud to once again work with the Esports World Cup. Having supported the EWC for two years, we are proud to have our data and technology play an important role in how the world watches and understands the action in real time.”
As esports events grow larger and more complex, understanding audience behavior has become a bigger part of running them. This isn’t just a concern for event organisers, either. Team Vitality, for example, has partnered with Shikenso Analytics to track and evaluate its sponsor and media partnerships, including its deals with coffee brand Nescafé and betting company Stake. That kind of tracking helps teams demonstrate the value of a sponsor’s logo appearing on a jersey or being mentioned during a broadcast, giving brands a clearer sense of return on their investment.
