King Hussein Business Park (KHBP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Esports Federation (JEF), a formal agreement that sets out how the two organisations will cooperate. The signing took place in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Omar bin Faisal, President of the JEF.
The JEF is the official regulatory body for esports in Jordan and is recognised by the government. It is already based at KHBP, so the new agreement builds on an arrangement in which the two organisations work from the same site.
As part of the latest deal, KHBP and the JEF will work together to host and organise specialised tournaments and events at the park. They will also receive international delegations and official guests who take part in those events. The agreement covers cooperation on media and marketing and the two sides will look into joint educational, training and community projects.
Eng. Ammar Ezzeddin, King Hussein Business Park CEO, said, “This partnership builds on our ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for institutions, initiatives and high-potential sectors and to establish KHBP as a hub for innovation and technology. We look forward to helping the sector thrive and to hosting more tournaments and events that put Jordanian talent in the spotlight and raise the Kingdom’s profile in this field.”
Hazem Bawab, JEF Vice President, stated, “This partnership is a significant step in our drive to develop the esports industry in Jordan and elevate the standard of local, regional and international competitions and activities. We look forward to drawing on the setup and capabilities that KHBP offers to scale our work, nurture young talent and launch joint programmes that help the industry grow and encourage greater participation.”
KHBP is a mixed-use business and technology hub in West Amman, located along King Abdullah II Street. Over time it has become one of Jordan’s main centres for gaming and esports as much of that activity takes place at THE ARC, a gaming dome and esports arena on the park’s campus.
THE ARC has already hosted a number of major esports events. These include the fourth edition of the Arab Esports League, a regional tournament, and a Women’s Esports Championship that drew hundreds of female Jordanian gamers. It was also the venue for Red Bull Login, a full-day gaming event with zones for PC, console, arcade, virtual reality (VR) and sim racing games. That event also held the national finals for DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike 2.
Aside from entertainment and tournament production, the venue explicitly functions as an incubation centre backed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Jordan Esports Federation. The campus runs training camps to coach and develop the next generation of professional esports talent.
