The Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) has officially confirmed that esports will feature 13 medal events at the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia, set for 2027.
The list of esports disciplines was shared by the Southeast Asia Esports Federation (SEAEF) as well as the Olympic Council of Malaysia. 11 of the 13 events are for men, two are for women, and none are mixed. The men’s events are:
- E Football Mobile (2v2)
- E Football Mobile and Console (2v2)
- E Racing Track Solo
- E Racing Track Duo
- E Racing Grand Turismo 7
- Honor of Kings
- Identity V
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
- PUBG Mobile Team Open
- PUBG PC Team Open
- Arena of Valor Team
The two women’s events are Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The 13 medal events are a big jump from the previous edition. The 2025 Southeast Asian Games, officially the 33rd SEA Games, were held in Thailand and had six official esports medal events. That means the 2027 Games will more than double the earlier number.
The venue has not been officially announced by the SEAEF yet. However, a video posted by TVS Entertainment, a free-to-air Malaysian digital television channel, indicates that all esports events at the 2027 Games will take place at the Imperial Hotel Kuching. The hotel is in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, directly above the Boulevard Shopping Mall. Until the SEAEF or the organisers confirm this, the location should be treated as unofficial.
Dr. Nur Azmi AHMAD, Deputy President of NOC Malaysia and Chair of the SEAGF Executive Committee, said, “The approval of the final list of 473 events provides greater clarity for all 11 member NOCs of SEAGF to plan and intensify their preparations for the 34th SEA Games Malaysia 2027, scheduled to take place from 18th to 29th September 2027 across 4 clusters, namely Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Penang and Johor.”
The details came out after the SEAGF Executive Committee approved the final list of 473 events across 43 sports for the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia. Esports appears in that list under a category for sports that are also played at the Olympic Games, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and the Asian Games: It is listed as one sport with a single discipline, which is split into 13 separate medal events.
