ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Games and Esports Tribunal (IGET) during the New Global Sport Conference (NGSC) in Riyadh.
The agreement will see EFG progressively adopt the IGET Model Clauses for dispute resolution across its owned and operated competitions. According to the parties, the move is intended to strengthen fairness and integrity within competitive gaming.
IGET was established by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO AMC). It provides Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services tailored to the video games and esports industries, covering integrity-related matters, contractual disputes, and intellectual property conflicts.
Stephen Hanna, Executive Director of IGET, said: “We are pleased to be working with EFG to make specialist dispute resolution more accessible in esports. This MoU reflects a shared commitment to fairness and efficiency, and we look forward to supporting EFG as it progressively integrates IGET into its competitions.”
EFG Chief Executive Officer, Niccolò Maisto, added: “As the global leader in competitive gaming, EFG recognises the critical need for a clear, credible, and expert-led approach to dispute resolution. By adopting the IGET framework, we are ensuring that all stakeholders in our ecosystem have access to a professional, independent process that expertly balances industry-specific knowledge with internationally recognised ADR standards. This partnership reinforces our commitment to a transparent and equitable competitive environment.”
To The Esports Radar, David Neichel — Senior Vice President of Public & International Affairs at EFG and Advisory Board Member at ESIC — said: “This is part of the development stage of the entire industry and ecosystem of esports. Having jurisdictions to handle cross-border mediation and arbitration is something already established in many other sports and activities, and it was about time to have it in esports and gaming.”
IGET operates as a not-for-profit initiative. It oversees integrity disputes in collaboration with ESIC, while managing commercial and intellectual property disputes in partnership with WIPO AMC.
