Myanmar’s Yangon Galacticos has received more than K1.38 billion (approx. $658,000) in awards from government and private donors during a ceremony in Yangon, following their $547,000 prize for winning the PUBG Mobile competition at the 2025 Esports World Cup.

The team secured Myanmar’s first-ever world championship title in any sport by winning the tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The celebration took place at the Pyidaungsu Hall of the Sports and Physical Education Institute in the Kyaikkasan Sports Complex, Yangon. Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, donors and athletes attended the event, according to a report by The Global New Light of Myanmar.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister awarded K40 million (approx. $19,000) to the players and K20 million (approx. $9,500) to the coaches. The Yangon Region Chief Minister added K10 million (approx. $4,800) to the coaching and support staff. Donors contributed a further K1,310 million (approx. $625,000) in cash awards. Certificates of honour were also presented.

Officials highlighted the historic significance of the victory, with the Ministry noting it as a milestone for national pride. Sponsors KBZ Bank and KBZ Group were also acknowledged, with Patron U Aung Ko Win recorded as contributing more than K4 billion (approx. $1.9 million) annually to the Myanmar Esports Federation.
