ESL FACEIT Group has clarified the competitive pathway for its current FACEIT League Overwatch 2 season, confirming that Master Division teams in Season 6 will not have a direct connection to the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS).
The organisation acknowledged the prior uncertainty, stating it “recognise[s] how this uncertainty impacted our NA and EMEA Master Division teams.” This pathway, however, is set to be re-established for Season 7, with further details to be announced at a later date.

To provide a competitive conclusion for the top teams of the current season, FACEIT has created the Masters Showdown, a separate tournament designed to offer “unmatched visibility.” The event will feature the four highest-placed teams from Season 6: the first and second-place finishers from both the North American and EMEA regional playoffs.
The Masters Showdown will be an online tournament played in a best-of-three format. The semi-final matches will be broadcast by community casters. The grand final, however, will be treated differently; it will be pre-recorded and then broadcast as a featured video during the OWCS Finals at DreamHack Stockholm, thereby “placing these teams in the spotlight before hundreds of thousands of viewers.”
Beyond the broadcast opportunity, the members of the winning team will each receive a medal, which FACEIT states will symbolise “their status as the world’s best Master Division team.”
FACEIT League expressed its anticipation for the event, noting it “can’t wait to invite our EMEA and NA champions to this exceptional event, where the best 2025 FACEIT League team will be crowned!” The teams that will qualify for the Masters Showdown are currently competing in the Master Division playoffs, which can be viewed on FACEIT’s featured co-streamer channels.
