Esports organisation G2 Esports has officially announced the return of its football team, G2 FC, to Kings League Germany for its second season.
The announcement follows a debut season which saw the team finish third in the league and qualify for the Kings League World Cup.
According to a press release, in the last season the team achieved the status of most supported esports team among German fans, with 46.33% naming them their favourite in findings from the E-sport-Bund Deutschland.
The Kings League Germany, part of the global 7-a-side league founded by former FC Barcelona player Gerard Piqué, officially launched its second season on October 12th in Cologne. The league will culminate in a Final Four on November 15th, with the winner advancing to a European Final in Berlin.

G2 will see new figures representing at the presidential level, welcoming professional EA FC player Mohammed ‘MoAuba’ Harkous and German lifestyle influencer and rapper Konygebony. According to the announcement, the team aims to engage a Generation Z audience by providing a platform that merges competitive performance with entertainment and digital innovation
In a statement, Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2, commented on the strategy, saying: “Our debut season in Kings League Germany demonstrated the potential of combining esports and traditional sports. For Season 2, we are focused on delivering new content, connecting with fans in innovative ways, and pushing the boundaries of what sports entertainment can achieve.”
The return of G2 FC signals the esports industry’s broader approach to blending traditional sports with esports and digital content. Other esports organisations involved in Kings League include FURIA, LOUD, and Fluxo in the Kings League Brazil.
