The Honor of Kings 2025 King Pro League (KPL) Grand Finals just made history. On November 8, more than 62,000 fans packed into Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium to watch AG Super Play face off against Wolves Esports.
That massive crowd officially broke the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at an esports match, beating the previous mark of 45,000 set by a PES 2016 tournament in Paris. It’s the first time a mobile esports event has ever claimed the record, and it happened inside one of China’s most iconic venues.

Tickets for the grand finals sold out in just 12 seconds, with most of the audience traveling from outside Beijing. The officials from Guinness World Records were actually on-site to verify the numbers and they presented the award live during the opening ceremony.
The match itself was as intense as the atmosphere. Chengdu AG Super Play, the defending champions, took down the Wolves 4–2 in a best-of-seven showdown, locking in back-to-back KPL Grand Finals titles and their sixth straight tier-1 championship. Their star player, YiNuo, grabbed the FMVP award and a special exclusive in-game skin, while the team walked away with around ¥20 million (about $2.8 million USD) from a staggering ¥70 million (approx $10 million) prize pool.
Production-wise, the event stage stretched 128 meters wide and featured a 7,000-square-meter LED screen. It was also the first time a mobile esports event had ever been held at the Bird’s Nest, a stadium better known for hosting the Olympics.
The KPL Finals went head-to-head with League of Legends Worlds 2025 and IEM Chengdu for Counter-Strike 2, both huge tournaments in their own right. Yet, Honor of Kings still managed to pull in the biggest live crowd of them all.
The new record by Honor of Kings managed to prove that mobile esports are every bit as massive and passionate as their PC and console counterparts.
