A Counter-Strike Major will be held in Argentina for the first time, following confirmation from local tournament organiser FiReSPORTS.
The company’s Founder and CEO Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes confirmed to HLTV that Buenos Aires will host the first Major of 2027, marking a significant expansion of the event’s global footprint.
The Argentine capital will host the tournament from 31 May to 20 June 2027. This will be the first Major held in the country and the first in South America since the IEM Rio Major in 2022. FiReSPORTS, which will be organising its first event of this scale, confirmed the news after being contacted by HLTV.
Reyes stated: “We’re very excited to host the first Major in the history of our country. Fans will be delighted to come to a city like Buenos Aires, a city that blends European and Latin American influences, where they will be surprised by the passion of Counter-Strike fans in Argentina.”

The Esports Radar also got in contact with the organiser and will update this story as new information becomes available.
FIReSPORTS’s an Argentinian gaming and esports company founded in 2020. It has since grown its operations across Latin America and into other markets, operating as a tournament organiser and broader esports business, running its own competitive leagues such as the FiReLEAGUE Counter-Strike circuit.
Separately, HLTV reports, citing multiple sources, that the second Major of 2027 is planned for Shanghai, China. This event would be organised by Perfect World, the game’s Chinese publisher, which previously ran the Shanghai Major in 2024. This information remains unconfirmed by the organiser.
The 2027 Majors will follow the already announced 2026 schedule, which includes the IEM Cologne Major and the PGL Major in Singapore.
