PlayVS, a NA-based scholastic and collegiate esports platform, has announced a new partnership with the Army National Guard to expand high school esports and help students learn about future career opportunities.

The primary goal of this partnership, according to a press release, is to make it easier for students to take part in organised esports while also showing them pathways focused on leadership, teamwork, and serving their local communities.

As part of the initiative, the Army National Guard will help provide access to the PlayVS platform for schools in West Virginia, Florida, and Massachusetts. Students in these states will compete in online esports competitions starting this spring season.

The partnership will also include in-person gaming events at selected high schools and colleges. These events will give students a chance to compete, play for fun, and meet Army National Guard representatives to learn about career options that match their skills. The events will take place across the three states over the next two esports seasons. The first events are planned in Boston and Miami in May, timed with the end of the school year and celebrating student participation.

The Army National Guard will also sponsor PlayVS State Championships in Florida and Massachusetts. These events will mark the end of each season and highlight the top high school esports teams.

“Partnering with the Army National Guard furthers our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students beyond high school,” said Jon Chapman, CEO at PlayVS. “This partnership allows us to expand access to organised scholastic esports while connecting student athletes with pathways that emphasise local service, career growth, and community impact.”

“Competitive gaming requires a passion for technology and skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving,” said Eugene Williams, Staff Sergeant and Marketing Data Analyst. “These are the same skills needed for many careers in the National Guard, including cyber, engineering, intelligence, and networking roles.”

In 2026, PlayVS has been consistently adding new partnerships to its roster. Its latest move is a three-year partnership to create a competitive gaming scene for HBCUs across the U.S. Back in February, it also partnered with Indian company Desportz to roll out the Gaming Concepts program, designed to build digital, STEAM, and career skills in students through gaming.
