Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, a two-time Counter-Strike Major champion and current FURIA player, headlined an inaugural class for medical students at Unoeste university in Brazil. The event marked the official launch of “First Person Surgeons,” a project now integrated into the university’s official medical curriculum.
The initiative investigates how skills developed in professional Counter-Strike—such as spatial awareness, fine motor coordination, and rapid decision-making—can be applied to modern surgical techniques.

According to official communications from the university, the collaboration between the veteran esports athlete and the academic institution focuses on several cross-disciplinary objectives designed to modernise surgical training.
The project also aims to apply high-performance training methods from competitive esports to the high-pressure environment of the operating theatre. During the encounter, Toledo shared insights into the training routines used at FURIA and how technical habits dialogue with the demands of the health sector.
This integration of gaming into professional training mirrors broader global trends where government and military bodies leverage esports to enhance specialised capabilities. For example, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) collaborated in 2025 with the British Esports Federation to improve the digital and cyber skills of Armed Forces personnel.
Beyond the technical benefits, the partnership serves a strategic institutional purpose. By recruiting a high-profile figure like FalleN, Unoeste aims to raise its profile among the esports-engaged demographic, positioning its medical and technology programs as innovative options for fans currently exploring higher education. The move also connects with FalleN’s being also known as “The Professor” in the Counter-Strike ecosystem.
