French esports organisation Team Vitality has taken another step in its expansion into Asia by signing Japanese fighting game player Shoji ‘Fenritti’ Sho and launching its first Japanese-language X account.

The organisation said the new account will help it connect more closely with fans in Japan. At the same time, Team Vitality announced the signing of Fenritti, one of Japan’s top fighting game players. The player recently qualified for the Esports World Cup in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and will now compete under the Team Vitality tag.

The announcement comes as the fighting game community continues to grow. Apart from the Esports World Cup, Team Vitality also pointed to other popular fighting events such as EVO Japan, which attract thousands of fans, players and industry professionals from around the world.

Amélie Canet, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Team Vitality, said, “The launch of our Japanese account marks a new milestone in Team Vitality’s international expansion. With the emergence of talents such as Fenritti and the momentum generated by EVO Japan, Japan enables us to create new partnership opportunities and forge a lasting bond between the brand and its communities.”

Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW) will return in 2026 with a bigger and bolder edition, taking place across 18–21 June in Cologne, Germany, alongside IEM Cologne. The schedule and details about ticket sales are available in this link.

The latest move is part of Team Vitality’s international expansion strategy. During 2025 and 2026, the organisation has expanded into new markets through acquisitions, partnerships and roster additions. While its main operations remain in Paris and Berlin, the company has increasingly focused on growth outside Europe.

One of its biggest moves came in 2025 when Team Vitality acquired Bigetron Esports. It was the first acquisition in the organisation’s history and helped strengthen its position in mobile esports and Southeast Asia. It has also tapped the Chinese market through merchandise release.

A few months after, the organisation announced a multi-year partnership with Paris Saint-Germain Esport to create a new EA FC team competing under the PSG.Vitality name. More recently, Team Vitality partnered with Team Havok for Fortnite. Through the deal, players Tino ‘Tjino’ Shah and Albert ‘PabloWingu’ Nyeborg qualified for the upcoming Esports World Cup and will compete under the Team Vitality banner.

In 2025, The Esports Radar interviewed Vitality’s Nicolas Maurer about the expansion strategy of the organisation. You can find it at this link.
