American esports organization Dignitas has announced a new partnership with Theta Labs to introduce ‘Digi’, an AI-powered assistant integrated into its competitive Fortnite server and Discord community. The collaboration marks the latest in a series of esports-focused AI initiatives from Theta Labs, following similar moves by Gen.G and Cloud9.
Launched on July 23, Digi is designed to support both competitive operations and fan engagement. The bot will serve the more than 70,000 members of DIGFort, Dignitas’ grassroots Fortnite tournament hub, with real-time assistance during competitions. Trained to answer queries regarding rules, formats, schedules and procedures, the AI aims to reduce pressure on human admins and improve the overall player experience.
Digi also extends beyond tournament infrastructure. It will act as an always-on informational tool for fans seeking updates on team stats, player performance, and match schedules across all Dignitas titles. The feature is embedded into Dignitas’ existing Discord server.
Dignitas joins a growing list of organisations exploring AI chatbots to deepen fan experiences. In recent months, Theta Labs has announced comparable initiatives with Gen.G (Genrang.bot), Cloud9 (Nimbus), and even esports media outlet Sheep Esports (Shepherd). These projects are part of a broader industry shift towards using AI tools to personalise fan interaction and support tournament operations.
Jake Clements, Vice President of Partnerships at Dignitas, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s long-standing commitment to its community: “Everything we do is for our community—the fans who cheer for us and the players who compete under our banner. With Digi, we’re not just adopting new technology; we’re creating a more meaningful and direct connection with our community.”
Mitch Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of Theta Labs, added: “Esports fans are among the most passionate and tech-savvy audiences in the world, and they deserve interactive experiences that match their dedication. Powering Digi on our Theta EdgeCloud platform is a perfect showcase of how AI can serve a dual purpose—deepening community engagement while also solving complex operational challenges.”
Theta Labs continues to expand its presence in esports and sports more broadly, having worked with institutions such as Stanford University, several major South Korean universities, and professional teams like the Houston Rockets and Las Vegas Knights.
