Guild Esports, the UK-based competitive gaming organisation once part-owned by David Beckham, has reportedly been put up for sale on an insolvency marketplace, a year after being acquired by US investor DCB Sports.
The information was first reported by City AM.
The Shoreditch-headquartered company, which operates a multi-level gaming venue in the area, is seeking bids from prospective buyers, with a submission deadline set for Friday.
Founded in 2018, Guild competed in titles including Apex Legends and VALORANT, while securing sponsorship deals with brands such as Sky and Subway.
In August 2024, DCB Sports — an investment group with stakes in multiple traditional sports, most notably Italian football club Venezia FC — acquired Guild in a £2.1m deal, comprising £100,000 (approximately $135,700) in cash and £2m (around $2.72m) in liabilities.
In 2025, it has joined forces with sim racing venue operator Drive Lounge to create a grassroots sim racing initiative, and acquired North American fan engagement platform Encore while shifting its focus to a solutions company.
However, Guild’s financial challenges date back to 2020, when it became the first British esports firm to list on the London Stock Exchange, but its share price later fell by more than 90% from its peak after consecutive years of losses.
DCB Sports has not commented on its decision to sell the business, according to City AM.
