Nasdaq-listed esports and digital entertainment enterprise NIP Group Inc. (NIPG) has entered into a definitive asset-purchase agreement to acquire an additional 4.47 exahashes per second (EH/s) of operational Bitcoin mining capacity.
The third-tranche transaction elevates NIP Group’s total installed hash rate to approximately 13.85 EH/s, reinforcing the organisation’s strategy to double down on digital computing infrastructure as a primary revenue diversification engine alongside its esports operations.
Upon full operational integration across its hosting framework, NIP Group’s compute base is projected to generate approximately 195 Bitcoins per month, subject to global network difficulty adjustments and operational factors. The tranche builds directly upon previous infrastructure acquisitions initiated in 2025, which saw the company establish its Digital Computing Division headquarters in Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

Instead of paying cash, NIP Group is buying the already-installed Bitcoin mining gear by giving the sellers up to 247 million company shares. The deal was signed in late September and announced in October. It also includes an updated legal contract that sets the rules for these new shareholders, like how and when they can sell their shares and what voting power they have. The sellers, however, were not disclosed by the company.
In a press release, Hicham Chahine, Co-CEO of NIP Group, commented: “We are rapidly executing on our digital infrastructure strategy with this third tranche of mining asset acquisitions. Scaling our hashrate to nearly 14 EH/s solidifies our position as a significant player in the Bitcoin mining space, while generating tangible revenue that supports our broader transformation. The disciplined, share-based consideration structure allows us to expand our compute footprint, and we’ll evaluate opportunities to deploy this capacity toward AI, HPC and other compute-intensive applications that complement our entertainment business.”
Carl Agren, COO of NIPG Mining and Digital Assets, commented, “These on-rack assets are immediately operational and will be integrated into our existing hosting framework with minimal ramp time. We are focused on efficient deployment, stable production and maximizing the utility of our growing computing base across multiple revenue streams.”
The expansion of NIP Group’s mining fleet forms part of a wider corporate strategy to de-risk its financial model from sole reliance on traditional esports sponsorship and prize money. Managed under Agren’s leadership, the digital assets division operates alongside other commercial diversification initiatives, including live entertainment ventures in China, an esports hotel rollout, and an ongoing commercial partnership of esports division Ninjas in Pyjamas with Rainbet.
Despite these aggressive diversification efforts and heavy infrastructure spending, 2026 has not been without its setbacks for NIP. Alongside its financial expansion, the organisation faced internal turbulence earlier this year when Ninjas in Pyjamas eliminated operational esports roles in Sweden as part of a sweeping corporate reorganisation. The decision shifted central business functions away from Stockholm toward Abu Dhabi, highlighting the contrast between NIP Group’s expanding global investment strategy and the downsizing of its legacy European footprint.
Addressing potential concerns that NIP could be stepping away from its esports origins to focus on digital infrastructure, Ninjas in Pyjamas Esports Division COO Grant Rousseau emphasised that the expansion isn’t a replacement of its core identity. Writing on X, Rousseau noted that while the group is “building a business that goes beyond esports,” it is not “moving away from what made NIP what it is today.”
“We’re not replacing one industry with another,” Rousseau stated. “We’re taking the experience, ambition, and entrepreneurial mindset that helped build NIP in esports and applying it to new areas of technology.”
