The Esports Championships Asia (ECA 2025) are heading to Vietnam for the very first time, with Can Tho City set to welcome gamers from across Asia from November 19 to 22.
The announcement from the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA) confirms that this year’s championship will bring together about 100 players from seven countries, including China, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, to battle it out in League of Legends, CrossFire, and the rhythmic showcase Stepin Digital Dance. Vietnam’s own 16-member squad will go all-in across all three events.

Apart from the intense competitions, ECA 2025 will also feature business meetups, international partnership signings, and an Asian Esports symposium. Organisers say it’s a chance to show off Vietnam’s culture and creativity, tying together esports and local identity.
Do Viet Hung, Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation and Head of VIRESA, said Can Tho was picked for its modern facilities, welcoming atmosphere, and strong tourism scene. “It’s a city that blends tradition and innovation,” he explained. “Perfect for a tournament that’s all about competition and cultural connection.”
By hosting the championship, the Vietnamese is set to give its digital entertainment industry a major boost by attracting regional investors to build up experience in running large-scale international events. After several years of rotating between China and South Korea, bringing the ECA to Vietnam shows how much the country has grown in the esports world.
