The University of Sydney Union (USU) has partnered with esports venue deployment operator Game Square, a division of ADVA Group, to open a dedicated gaming and esports facility on campus.

Officially launched on 13 August 2026, Game Square USYD and the Game Square USYD Console Lounge provide student members with a purpose-built space designed for casual gaming, competitive esports, content creation, and community events.

Located within the Wentworth Building, the facility houses 23 high-performance PC gaming stations alongside dedicated console lounge areas with semi-private booths. Beyond offering daily recreational gaming, the space is structured to accommodate student society workshops, organised tournaments, brand activations, and industry-linked programmes. The operation will also create paid employment opportunities for University of Sydney students across venue management, event delivery, customer service, and esports programming.

The deployment follows Game Square’s existing hub at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as well as the recent opening of the 550-square-metre Red Bull Gaming Hub Parramatta in Western Sydney.
